Well this is the final sneak peak. I also wanted to apologize for not having this posted last night. As you can see we have really brought some great stuff on board for 2012. You certainly won't be disappointed with these last three items. Now that we have released all the new items, I know the next question is "How much are they?"

With the new year underway we are starting to take calls every day about the new products as well as the new price list. We are working on the new price list and it will be here before you know it. Just keep in mind, a new year, brings new prices. As always, to help offset the price increases, we offer a 40% discount for a limited time.

Some of the new features include choosing the number of items that can be viewed on a page, the ability to create a wish list and the opportunity to rate and review items. 2012 New Item Sneak Preview

The long wait is now over.....well sorta. Over the next 7 weeks we will be revealing new 2012 items a few at a time. We have 19 new items available this year. The first three items are a selection from one of each of our main categories. Video is now available on all of our new items. The current video is directly from China. Fountains - AFW Chill Zone - packed 36/1 this 3x9 fountain is a nice medium sized fountain that lasts about a minute and a half. It has gold pine to silver white chrysanthemums and red stars.

Chinese Sky Lanterns- Too Many Safety Issues.

With their popularity growing rapidly in the wedding industry, we get calls and e-mails on a daily basis asking if we carry Chinese Sky Lanterns.
With confidence we can say that we do not carry them for the sole reason being safety. As unique as they are, they are just as dangerous as they are beautiful.

For those who are not familiar with Sky Lanterns, they were traditionally used in Asian cultures for celebrations .These lanterns are made of oiled rice paper and a thin wire support that combines with an open flame. They are then released into the night sky like a hot air balloon. With that in mind.....what goes up, must come down! That is a problem.
Many countries throughout the world have already banned the use of these lanterns because they are unpredictable and unsafe. Once these lanterns are released they can float back down and land in fields and buildings causing fires. They have even been reported falling onto vehicles on busy roadways causing accidents. When the flame burns out and they fall seemingly harmlessly into a field or pasture, they are eaten by livestock. Sadly many of these animals die from stomach punctures and throat wounds or asphyxiation from the metal parts.
There are potentially safety issues with any product, but we do our best to screen every item and do quality control testing, so those potential issue are limited. We pride ourselves in quality and safety, and will gladly forgo following a trend and give up a sale, to keep our customers safe.
So the next time you witness the beauty and drama of a Sky Lantern launch, ask yourself... Is it really worth it?

Wedding Sparklers

Everyone continues to ask, "So what are you guys doing now that its slow?" As pointed out in the previous blog, there is a lot that is happening now that keeps us very busy this time of year.

Fireworks are not just for the 4th of July anymore. We have more and more people who come in every year who are shooting fireworks for birthdays, weddings, anniversary parties and many other special events. Weddings have really been a great source over the past few years.

Sparklers for weddings have begun to replace the throwing of rice or birdseed as the couple exits the venue. They are especially dramatic if the couple uses them at night. Wedding sparklers also come in many sizes, ranging from 10 inches all the way up to 3 feet long. We also carry a heart shaped sparkler. Over the past few years we have had the opportunity to supply close to

We also have a lot people actually shoot a small show as part of the celebration. Many people shoot the show themselves and others hire professionals to do it. Whether it be during the rehearsal dinner or at the wedding reception itself, its a great way add something even more special to that special day.

There are even options that do not include the lighting of actual fireworks. We have also begun to see a large increase in the use of our Wedding Poppers. These Champagne wedding poppers can also be used in place of bird seed, rice and bubbles. They even have all white streamers, making them work with any wedding theme.

People tend to look at us as only selling items that shoot into the air 300 feet and make a lot of noise. They visualize shopping in the heat of the summer in a crowded showroom, waiting in line and blowing stuff up. Although that is a huge part of our business, we are so much more. Guess Things are pretty slow now..huh?

Every time I let someone know that I sell fireworks, I always get the same question. "Guess you guys are really slow this time of year?" Its quite the contrary. We may not have as many showroom customers, and many of our wholesale customers are not as active as they are in the months leading to the 4th of July, but things couldn't be busier. There are a lot of things happening now behind the scenes to get ready for next year. Within one week after the 4th, we have two stores that have to be inventoried, packed up, shut down and shipped back to the main warehouse. Once everything is back a massive inventory and clean up project begins. With 4 buildings practically empty from the onslaught, they need to be cleaned and maintained to get ready to receive new product which begins to arrive a few weeks later.
Just as the dust begins to settle, its time to look forward to the new season and new product. Our delegation heads off to China to meet with our factories, and brokers to find the best stuff to help make your next show better than the last one. Here at home its business as usual. Filling orders for existing clients, calling and e-mailing to get new clients, following up with clients from the 4th to see how they did and how we can help them do it better.
By mid August the meetings begin, what new products to carry, what old ones to drop. New artwork. New packaging. New packing. Planning begins on what direction we are going and who will be responsible in helping us get there. Sales meetings to set goals and get feedback. This takes us right though October, and into New Years buying season. YES...New Years. There are a lot of people who buy fireworks for new years. In the south, it can be just as big as the 4th. Then there are the party stores who need items for New Years Eve.
So as you can see, we always have something going on. We don't just sit around and count the days until the next 4th.

New 2011 Price List

Well it's finally here and published. The long awaited 2011 wholesale price list is now available. We have some great new 500 gram cakes as well as two new power assortments. Its only been two days and we have had an opportunity to talk to a lot of you about the new items and the pricing.
It's our customers that have made us so successful over the past 31 years. We thank you for being there with us over the years. being the great customers you are, several have already called, e-mailed,tweeted, face booked, and stopped by to ask us when we will have new video up for the new items for 2011. I know everyone is anxious to see the new stuff, but please be patient with us. As you know, the weather in North East Ohio has been a bit crazy. We shoot all of our own video and we need it to warm up just a little more before we can shoot the new stuff and post the new video. We will have it up as soon as we can, thanks for being there with us, and we look forward to seeing everyone again this year.

well its a snow covered day here in northeast Ohio. It was sunny and 80 degrees on Tuesday and now its like mid January. This weekend would be a great weekend to stay indoors by the fireplace and read a book. I suggest "BOOM" which is available on line at amazon.com
I hope everyone has a great Easter and just remember that this holiday is not about colored eggs and Chocolate bunnies.
